Resident Evil 7 is the closest thing to the original Resident Evil survival horror formula than any game in recent years. Capcom has finally moved away from the action oriented style of the last such titles.
And nothing illustrates this better than these two trailers the company released.
Showing off combat and green herbs.
The first video is titled ‘Survival’ and provides a look at how healing items work in the game. It has our main protagonist healing himself — presumably after being attacked by a member of the cannibalistic Baker family.
And from the looks of things, it appears that green herbs can be used to patch yourself up or even combined with a first-aid kit in order to increase its potency.
Which brings us to the second clip that goes by the title of ‘Immortal’. It pits the player against a shirtless Jack Baker, and that it will take more than bullets to actually kill these enemies. Best case scenario is to slow the enemies down, and make a proper escape to find a weapon that does actually stops them.
Previous trailers have also shown this familiar Resident Evil mechanics that has been the hallmark of the series, and it does tie into what the developers said about enemies being almost always stronger than the player character.
Who is actually just an ordinary person this time around, for a change.
Some very neat showcases in these two trailers, for a game that probably will be the marquee title for the PlayStation VR platform for the foreseeable future.
