The PlayStation VR launch could be something special, according to Sony, and the company has assured fans that it will be treating this as a proper PlayStation launch.
PlayStation VR certainly has picked up some heat these past couple of months.
And the Japanese technology giant is keen to keep the momentum going, ensuring us that the launch in October is not going to be a small affair. This was revealed by Sony executive Jim Ryan who was speaking during an interview with Insider PlayStation at Gamescom 2016.
This is what he had to say on the upcoming launch:
“There will be proper marketing, products in stores, lots of games at launch; we’ve got 38 titles on the stand [at Gamescom]. It’s going to be big.”
Certainly looks like Sony is going in with all bases covered.
Elsewhere in the interview Ryan also clarified that Sony does not discriminate between AAA titles and indie games, and the status of the games does not matter for the platform:
“At the end of the day, it’s just about great games. We don’t discriminate between something that’s a AAA or something that’s an indie. If something’s a great game, then it gets focus, attention, and love.”
That’s the way to approach all this.
The headset, developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment and manufactured by Sony, is scheduled to launch on October 13, 2016. We can expect appropriate fanfare then!
